Ambassadors to Hollywood

Ahead of his second term, President Donald Trump named actors Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone as special ambassadors to Hollywood to help revive the industry, which has seen a significant decline in production in Los Angeles due to runaway productions abroad. Their exact roles remain unclear, though Trump stated they would work to bring Hollywood "back—bigger, better and stronger than ever before." Hollywood’s move overseas has raised concerns, with California Rep. Laura Friedman, a former film producer, emphasizing the need for a federal film tax credit to keep productions in the U.S. She questioned the seriousness of Trump's ambassador appointment, noting that arts should remain nonpartisan. While some see the ambassadors as a chance to diversify Hollywood's conversation, others, like Friedman, are skeptical that the initiative will have real impact. Mel Gibson, in particular, expressed surprise at his new role after learning about it via Trump’s social media. The White House did not provide further details on the positions.

Mel Gibson said, "Daddy's arrived, and he's taking his belt off," in response to Trump's response to the 2025 Los Angeles fires.

Actor Mel Gibson referred to President Donald Trump as “daddy” during an interview on Fox News, saying “daddy’s home and is taking his belt off” while discussing Trump’s scolding of local officials in response to California’s deadly wildfires. Gibson, who lost his own home in the fires, expressed support for Trump’s actions, particularly his criticism of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for not using enough emergency resources.

Mel Gibson lost is gun rights due to domestic violence charges, and Trump is trying to get them back.

The Justice Department has decided to restore gun rights to actor Mel Gibson, a supporter of President Trump, along with nine others who have criminal convictions. The decision, which follows internal debates, was approved by Attorney General Pam Bondi. Gibson, who had pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge in 2011, had previously been denied the ability to buy a gun due to this conviction. The decision to restore his gun rights faced opposition from the department’s former pardon attorney, Elizabeth G. Oyer, who expressed concerns about the safety risks of allowing someone with a domestic violence conviction to possess firearms. However, Trump’s administration has pushed to loosen restrictions on gun rights, with a broader effort to allow some individuals with criminal convictions to regain them. The move has drawn both support from conservative groups and criticism from gun control advocates.

Jon Voight claimed that Trump is the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln.

Trump and Lincoln

Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight recently posted two videos on Twitter reaffirming his strong support for President Donald Trump, calling him "the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln." In the videos, Voight, addressing the Republican Party, praised Trump's leadership, stating that he has made the right decisions, making the country stronger, safer, and with more jobs. Voight also mentioned the challenges Trump faces, particularly from the left, but emphasized the moral duty passed down from President Lincoln.

Saved by an Honest Leader

This is not the first time Voight has drawn parallels between Trump and Lincoln. During the 2017 inauguration rally, Voight remarked that Trump’s presidency was an answer to prayers, and that Lincoln would be "smiling" knowing America would be saved by an honest leader. Voight has been a vocal supporter of Trump since his early candidacy, having praised him for being honest and direct, in contrast to typical politicians. Additionally, Trump appointed Voight as a trustee of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 2019.

Sylvester Stallone claimed that Trump is like George Washington.

Trump is like George Washington

At the America First Policy Gala in Palm Beach, Florida, Sylvester Stallone made a bold comparison, calling President-elect Donald Trump the "second George Washington." Stallone, speaking to the crowd, likened Trump’s potential for change to that of his character in "Rocky," saying Trump was poised for a "metamorphosis" that would "change lives." He praised Trump’s accomplishments, saying that no one else could have achieved what he had, expressing his awe for the former president. Stallone further emphasized that just as George Washington had unknowingly shaped the world through his leadership, Trump’s triumph in the 2024 election placed him alongside Washington in importance for the future of the country.

Stallone "loves" Trump

While Stallone has kept his political opinions relatively private, he has expressed admiration for Trump in the past, noting in 2016 that he "loved" the former president. Stallone’s remarks at the gala resonate with other conservative figures like Jason Aldean, Kid Rock, and Justine Bateman, who have also voiced their support for Trump and his political direction.
