White Christian Nationalism

White Christian nationalism poses a growing and dangerous threat to American democracy and civil rights, as it seeks to merge religious extremism with authoritarian politics. Far-right websites have openly celebrated brutal ICE deportations carried out without due process, praising them as victories for their vision of a “pure” nation. These same platforms have also advocated for revoking women’s rights—including the right to vote and the right to control their own bodies—under the guise of returning to "traditional values." Many within the MAGA movement have expressed enthusiasm for accepting white South African immigrants while simultaneously echoing Donald Trump's racist rhetoric, including his dehumanizing remarks like “they’re eating the cats, they’re eating the dogs.” Trump’s agenda further embraced this ideology when he pushed to rename military bases in honor of Confederate generals, symbolizing a revisionist glorification of a racist past. Simultaneously, his administration and its allies removed Department of Defense websites that mentioned diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), signaling a retreat from commitments to equality. Across several states, efforts are underway to mandate the display of the Ten Commandments in public classrooms while banning the teaching of Black history—actions that reflect a broader attempt to enforce a narrow, exclusionary narrative of American identity.
